Debian es el Poder, no hay duda, pero me sorprende mucho el esfuerzo que le han metido a openSUSE para que sea una experiencia amigable con el usuario final.

Por ejemplo, entré al canal de openSUSE (#suse) y pregunté cuál edición debo usar con mi laptop de 64 bits, la i386 o la x86_64, la espuesta fue la obvia, x86_64, en #debian, la respuesta hubiera sido otra.

Vean por ejemplo el estudio realizado para decidir cual menú de aplicaciones usar en KDE. Como se nota que le ponen esfuerzo para que por defecto sea usable.

Recuerdo lo que dice Jeff en: The Power of Defaults:

There's nothing to install. There's nothing to configure. It just works.

That's the power of defaults.

En openSUSE es mas difícil hacer lo difícil, como por ejemplo, instalarlo en un portatíl, ¡sin drive de CD, sin floppy y que no botea desde USB... y sin Internet!

openSUSE conserva la filosofía del software libre, pues quien quiera sólo usar SL, debe agregar solamente el repositorio oss (Open Source Software). Y los no-afganos pueden agregar el repositorio non-oss.
